About Pitstop
History
Pitstop
opened in October 2003 in a purpose built garage on the Slough Trading
Estate. It is both registered as a charity and not for profit company
limited by guarantee and considers itself to be a 'social enterprise'.
It relies on the ongoing support of numerous partners - local education
authorities and councils, local businesses, police, fire service, Learning
and Skills Council and all local agencies who share an interest with working
with young people.
Aims
Pitstop aims to introduce young people into the 'world of work' and help them see the personal qualities required to work successfully in a business environment whilst also valuing the academic curriculum provided in school, college and/or other learning environments.
Pitstop
will aim to provide all trainees (usually aged 14 to 19 years) with
as much practical, hands-on, workshop experience as possible with both
tutor and IT support when required.
Pitstop's primary business will be the training of young people but it will also be operating as a commercial workshop generating income from traditional garage activities. All Pitstop staff and volunteers will be experienced practitioners in their areas of expertise.
